*Procedure LiAlH4 (3.04 g, 80 mmol) in ether (70 mL) at 0oC was added dropwise to a solution of ethyl-(2-phenyl-pent-4-enoate) (10.2 g, 50 mmol) in ether (30 mL). Reaction complete (TLC) after 1 hour from addition. The remain LiAlH4 was quenched with EtOAc the 2M HCl. Extracted into ether, washed with brine, and dried over MgSO4 and concentrated. 
The crude product was purified by Kugelrohr distillation (120 °C, 1 mbar) to provide the desired product (97%).
