A solution of 1-benzyl-3-[(Z)-butylidene]-4-methylenepyrrolidine (125 mg, 0.55 mmol) in dry ether (1 mL) was added dropwise to a solution of N-phenyl maleimide (87 mg, 0.5 mmol) in dry diethyl ether (3 mL), and the resultant yellow solution stirred at RT for 7 h. The solvent was removed in vacuo and the residue purified by column chromatography (SiO2, ether) to yield the desired Diels Alder adduct as a sticky, colourless gum (173 mg, 87%).

*Yield (%) 87
*Type of Yield Isolated Product Yield
